Biography

Maura Doyle Tanabe, PhD, earned her Master of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Psychology – School Psychology from the University of Minnesota. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Doyle Tanabe developed an understanding for special needs while in college through her work as a personal care attendant for two young brothers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

After receiving her M.A., Dr. Doyle Tanabe worked as an Autism Specialist for a non-profit human service agency in Michigan where she was in charge of running social skills groups, implementing and managing their summer program, working with individual clients providing play-based therapy, and running Sibshops. Additionally, she worked as a school psychologist for Birmingham Public Schools in Michigan where she supported students with a variety of learning needs and worked in cooperation with teachers and parents to optimize children’s learning. During her summers in Michigan, she worked as a behavioral consultant at the Birmingham Public Schools summer program for students with ASD from kindergarten to post-secondary education.

Dr. Doyle Tanabe believes that her experience in working in a variety of settings with a diverse group of children helps her support the children and families served at Quotable Kids. She is passionate about the full inclusion of all people with special needs into our community.
